It is obvious that the future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways. The future indeed belongs to these girls in my community whom I have trained over the past few days with hair braiding and make up skills.
I hope that these girls will be able to stand on their feet with these skills at all times, and not become a burden to society. It is not uncommon in Accra, Ghana to find young girls engage in all kinds of vices to make ends meet. These girls tend to be exploited and most times end up with unwanted pregnancies, drug addiction and the likes.
These vocational skills acquired will help them while in school, especially if they choose to make a living with it after school. The girls have been equipped to make very good use of their time and energies with profitable skills which will make them stay out of trouble.
The devil finds work for the idle hands, but definitely not for these young girls owing to this training which is part of the Miss Philanthropy Africa Initiative’s vision to end poverty in Africa.
